Mayor Craig A. Moe and Laurel Police Chief Richard McLaughlin are pleased to announce a partnership between the Prince George’s County State Attorney’s Office, the House of Ruth, Community Advocates for Family and Youth, the Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence, Prince George’s Hospital Center, Hey Red Salon and the Family Crisis Center for Prince George’s County on reducing domestic violence in the City.

It is through this partnership, the first of its kind in the county, state and, from the research conducted, nation, that such a universally comprehensive domestic violence program was developed. The goal is to provide victims with assistance, as well as, educate the public.

A “Kickoff Meeting” has been set for October 20, 2011 at 7:30pm, at the Laurel Police Department’s Partnership Activity Center, 811 5th Street. From the information gathered at this meeting, it is planned to have each of these organizations at the Laurel Police Department’s Partnership Activity Center one day a month for those in need of this valuable assistance.

Mayor Moe and Chief McLaughlin urge victims seeking assistance, relatives or friends that are worried about their loved ones being involved in abusive relationships, and for anyone seeking information on domestic violence, to attend this meeting.

If you have any questions, please contact Major Bob Althoff at 301-498-0092.
