Mayor Craig A. Moe would like the public to know about an informative workshop being hosted by the Patuxent National Wildlife Visitors Center. The workshop, entitled “Forest Ecosystem Services: Valuing Nature’s Benefits to People and Our Local Communities,” will be held on October 27, 2011 from 9:00am to 4:30pm. The workshop will focus on what makes the case for including the value of ecosystem services as a necessary element of our growth, management, educational, planning and investment decisions.
Discussions will include the compelling reasons to retain, preserve and manage our natural resources for the benefits that nature provides and what nature gives back to us in economic, environmental, social, health and spiritual values.
It is suggested that local governments, state and federal agencies, citizen advocacy groups and non-profit environmental groups that work in land management attend the workshop.
There is a cost involved to attend the workshop, so for more information, please call Christine Conn at 410-260-8785 or to register visit
