Mayor Craig A. Moe and Marty Flemion, Director of Emergency Services, would like the public to be aware of a class being offered at the University of Maryland.
 
Skywarn Winter Storms is a 3 and a half hour class that includes an excellent overview of the winter weather threats that impact our region. The instructor, from the National Weather Service forecast office in Sterling, will cover various winter topics. These will include: winter preparation and safety, winter normals and extremes, how winter storms form, what winter products the National Weather Service generates and finally, what role you have in Skywarn and reporting winter weather.
 
Skywarn Winter Storms is being offered on November 12 from 11:00am – 2:30pm at 1202 Martin Hall (Engineering), University of Maryland in College Park. This class is free and if you are interested, please register at https://www2.atmos.umd.edu/~gcm/wiki/Skywarn_registration/ .
