Mayor Craig A. Moe and the Director of Emergency Services, Marty Flemion, are pleased to announce that the City of Laurel, in conjunction with the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute and Prince George’s County Office of Homeland Security, will hold a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Class beginning February 16, 2012 through April 1, 2012. Classes will be held once a week on Thursday evenings with the exception of a Saturday class on March 24, 2012 and the graduation on Sunday, April 1, 2012.

The CERT program provides special training that enhances the ability of residents to prepare for, mitigate against, respond to, and recover from a major emergency or disaster situation.  The program prepares citizens to help themselves, their families, and their neighbors in the event of an emergency.

The CERT Class will be limited to 25 participants on a first come, first serve basis. If you would like more information on the class, please call Carreen Koubek at 301-725-5300 ext. 2109.
