Mayor Craig A. Moe would like the residents of Laurel to know that the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the northern and western suburbs of Washington DC that will go into effect at 10:00am today, Wednesday, February 8, 2012.

The National Weather Service has issued the advisory for possible accumulations of one to two inches of snow. The advisory will be in effect until 10:00pm Wednesday, February 8, 2012.

Light snow will come into the region between 11am and 2pm with a period of moderate snow in the late afternoon and evening rush hour. Temperatures will be in the mid-30s and winds will be from the northwest up to 5mph.

The wintry weather could cause hazardous traveling conditions due to low visibilities at times and snow-covered roadways, especially during the late afternoon and evening rush hour commute. The City of Laurel Public Works crews are prepared and will be monitoring roadway conditions.
