Mayor Craig A. Moe has announced the death of long-time City of Laurel volunteer Morton Marlow, who passed away Friday, May 11, 2012.

At the time of his death, Mr. Marlow was a member of the City of Laurel CERT (Citizen Emergency Response) Team.  Mr. Marlow also served on the City’s Parks and Recreation Citizens Advisory Committee, the City’s Tree Board and the City’s Public Works Citizens Advisory Committee.  He was a strong supporter of the City and its volunteer programs and opportunities.

Mr. Marlow was often seen at the City’s public events and attended many of the monthly breakfasts and other activities of the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department.  Mayor Moe stated Mort Marlow will be missed for his volunteerism in any event or activity the City had; his attitude to get things done; and his genial outlook and friendly way of working with others.

Mayor Moe has ordered that the City flag be placed at half-staff until Mr. Marlow’s burial.
