Mayor Craig A. Moe and the Laurel City Council are pleased to announce that effective November 19, 2012, the City of Laurel Department of Community Planning and Business Services will begin accepting applications for Prince George’s County Animal Licenses. The City’s goal is to make it more convenient for citizens to license their pets.
Currently under the County’s law, each dog, cat and ferret over four (4) months of age in the County, which includes the City of Laurel, must have and wear a current Prince George’s County license. Prince George’s County licenses are valid for one (1) year. Licenses can be purchased at the Laurel Municipal Center, Department of Community Planning and Business Services, located at 8103 Sandy Spring Road Laurel, Maryland 20707at the Permit/License counter. Owners of pets who reside outside the City limits, but within Prince George’s County, are also welcome to apply for pet licenses at the Municipal Center.
It is important to note that in the event of an emergency or natural disaster, animal shelter facilities may NOT accept or board animals that are not licensed.
