It is with great appreciation, as well as deep sadness, that Mayor Craig A. Moe announces the volunteer with the most hours for the calendar year 2012 is Chris Benoswkyj with a total of 206 hours in the a variety of volunteer groups in the City of Laurel. The City of Laurel lost this wonderfully-dedicated volunteer in February of this year. She began her volunteer service to the City of Laurel first through the LCPAAA in January 2007. By December of 2007, she was sworn in as a LPD Auxiliary Officer. Chris became a member of Laurel’s CERT Team in October 2008 and has served as a Board Member of both groups for a number of years. She has also spent time on the 4th of July Committee. In 2012, Chris took training to receive certification as a Search and Rescue Technician II. Chris, with her variety of training, was a most valuable asset to the City of Laurel in the event of an emergency. Chris’ name has been added to the Volunteer Laurel! plaque which hangs at City Hall. Thank you Chris for all the invaluable time you gave to the City of Laurel and its residents. You will be missed.
