The minutes of the July 28, 2022 meeting were approved as written on motion by Mrs. Leszcz and seconded by Mrs. Snyder, carried on a roll call vote of all other members present with Mrs. Collins abstaining.
Next, the Board heard the request for Special Exception Application No. 932 and Resolution No. 22-08-BOA, 555 Main Street Laurel, Maryland 20707, filed by Kurvaceous Bottles Karnival aka LaNita Cousin, 9700 Baltimore Avenue Laurel, Maryland 20707. Mr. Burrough completed the reading of the record for the administrative approval process and presented the technical staff report dated September 21, 2022. The Applicant is seeking Special Exception approval to add rental hall use to existing building. The building was constructed in 1989. The structure is over 6,600 square feet commercial space. The property is located in the Historic District, zoned C-V, Commercial Village.
There was discussion between the Board, Applicant and staff regarding the hours of operation and parking. The Board asked why there were no comments from the Department of the Fire Marshal & Permit Services, especially regarding the building occupancy. Staff reported these details are worked out during the permitting process, particularly the Use & Occupancy permit through inspection
Chairman Smalls opened the public hearing at 6:07 p.m.
The applicant, Ms. LaNita Cousin, 9700 Baltimore Avenue Laurel, Maryland 20707, thanked the Board for their time and consideration. She stated sound proofing has been done to the building and the surrounding properties have been notified of their business. Lastly, she stated she has been working to get this up and running since this past July.
There was nobody else signed up to speak.
Chairman Smalls closed the public hearing at 6:24 p.m.
On motion by Mrs. Collins seconded by Mrs. Leszcz and carried on a unanimous vote by all members present, Special Exception Application No. 932 and Resolution No. 22-08-BOA were approved as presented in the Technical Staff Report.
