The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. with Chairman Nicholas presiding. Roll was called with Valerie M.A. Nicholas, Chairman; Brent Debnam; Kyla Clark; Mike McLaughlin, Erin McLaughlin, and Kim Rau present.

The Minutes from CAC for Persons with Disabilities Meeting on April 22, 2021 were approved as corrected.

Chairman Nicholas advised the committee that people are still testing positive for the virus even after being vaccinated. She reminded everyone to continue social distancing, wear your masks and wash your hands.

Update on the CAC for Disabilities Website. Committee wants to see "breadcrumbs" added to the top of the website to direct someone to the different sections instead of having to scroll down the entire web page.

Chairman Nicholas told the committee members about the new story produced by Laurel TV - "Covid-19 One Year Later: The City of Laurel’s survival story will air at 8 pm on May 21 st , at Noon and 8pm on May 22 nd , and at 2pm and 8 pm on May 23, 2021. After that you will be able to find and view it on the Laurel TV Official YouTube channel.

May 8, 2021, meeting was cancelled due to a Town Meeting hosted by the Laurel Police Department addressing an issue with loud, speeding cars driving through the City (scheduled for the same time).

Discussion about the City's process to review, approve and test ADA access in the City of Laurel. Add to the CAC's website how a resident can report an ADA issue. A follow-up discussion will be held at the next meeting to discuss reporting process.


Next CAC Meeting will be on Thursday, June 3, 2021, 6:00 p.m.

Erin McLaughlin reminded the committee to "stay cool" because it is hot outside.

There being no further business to come before the committee the meeting was adjourned at 6:41 p.m.
