2.         Approval of the Minutes for the Regular HDC meeting held on November 27, 2018.  

3.         HDC 042-2019 for 110 Seventh Street, submitted by Tony Mazzuca, request to replace current white siding with new vinyl siding in seagrass color and repaint current blue trim with white color.

4.         HDC 043-2019 for 101 Washington Boulevard, submitted by Andreas Rodrigues & Pablo Cesar, request to install new signage to existing black awning in white lettering to read: “Los Taxes”& para nuestra gente” with company logo. Also requesting to install (4) new vinyl window signs in orange, green, blue and white. New awning signage has already been installed.

5.         HDC 044-2019 for 313 Fourth Street, submitted by Joseph & Helena Fox-Rabinovitz, request to install a new driveway 10’ x 93’ (930 sq. ft.) with concrete surface and to remove (2) gum trees that are invading cellar to house causing water leaks. Applicant plans to replant a pair of saplings in the rear yard.

6.         HDC 050-2019 for 217 Main Street, submitted by Chigozie “Bruno” Nwogu, on behalf of the owner, Joy Davis, for approval to replace lighted signage (7’ x 2’) on building front, message reads: Total Wireless” in blue and red with white lettering. Sign has already been installed.

7.         A tax credit request for 612 Main Street submitted by Charles Haugh for approved HDC Certificate of Approval 020-2019 for replacing roof, gutters and downspouts to building. The cost was $24,272.00, and the requested amount is $2,427.20.

8.         A tax credit request for 501 Montgomery Street submitted by Maureen Tobin for approved HDC Certificate of Approval 035-2019 for replacing roof. The cost was $6,450.00 and the requested amount is $645.00.

9.         A tax credit request for 320 Montgomery Street submitted by James & Suma Penrose for approved HDC Certificate of Approval 062-2018 for replacing roof. The cost was $10,000.00 and the requested amount is $1,000.00.

Staff Approvals:

 

HDC 040-2019 for 321 Prince George Street, submitted by Ernesto Moreno, request to re-seal and re-strip parking lot. Will not be increasing the size. Work to be done with “in-kind” material. Original parking lot faded over time from the sun and need repair.

HDC 041-2019 for 110 Seventh Street, submitted by Tony Mazzuca, request to remove and replace roof shingles with architectural style in weathered wood “in-kind” color. Applicant requested staff approval as the current roof is leaking.

HDC 045-2019 for 312 Prince George Street, submitted by Robert Schmidt, request to remove and replace roof shingles with architectural style. Color will be in colonial slate, which is similar to current color. Applicant requested staff approval as the current roof is leaking into the house.

HDC 046-2019 for 113 Sixth Street, submitted by Terry & Ruth Ann Hyatt, request to remove diseased, unsafe maple tree at the corner end of lot near neighbor’s house, sidewalk and electric files.

HDC 048-2019 for 419 Montgomery Street, submitted by Donald Jordan, request to remove and replace roof shingles with “in-kind” material and color green.

CITY OF LAUREL HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION

Chairman Hayes called the meeting to order at 7:05, read the Opening Statement and asked for a roll call. Five (5) commissioners answered present, constituting a quorum.

 

Chairman Hayes stated the minutes from November 27, 2018 will be voted on at the next meeting since there is a page missing.

 

HDC 042-2019 for 110 Seventh Street, submitted by Tony Mazzuca, request to replace current white siding with new vinyl siding in seagrass color and repaint current blue trim with white color. The applicant was not present.

On a motion by Ms. Lubieniecki, seconded by Ms. Rambow the certificate was approved on a unanimous vote.

On a motion by Councilmember Leszcz, seconded by Ms. Lubieniecki, the certificate was approved on a unanimous vote.

 

HDC 044-2019 for 313 Fourth Street, submitted by Joseph & Helena Fox-Rabinovitz, request to install a new driveway 10’ x 93’ (930 sq. ft.) with concrete surface and to remove (2) gum trees that are invading cellar to house causing water leaks. Applicant plans to replant a pair of saplings in the rear yard. There was discussion regarding the driveway style being changed to two (2) strips instead of one (1) concrete pad. The applicant was present and agreed to the change suggested by the commission.

On a motion by Ms. Frazier, seconded by Councilmember Leszcz, the certificate was approved on a unanimous vote with the condition the proposed driveway will be installed as two (2) strips from the walkway to the house and one (1) solid concrete pad from the side to back of house.

 

HDC 050-2019 for 217 Main Street, submitted by Chigozie “Bruno” Nwogu, on behalf of the owner, Joy Davis, for approval to replace lighted signage (7’ x 2’) on building front, message reads: Total Wireless” in blue and red with white lettering. Sign has already been installed. There was discussion regarding the colors of the sign not blending in with the Main Street look. The applicant was not present.

On a motion by Chairman Hayes seconded by Ms. Lubieniecki, the certificate was tabled on a unanimous vote.

Chairman Hayes explained the rules for election of Chairman and Vice-chairman.

 

On a motion by Ms. Rambow, seconded by Ms. Lubieniecki, Chairman Hayes was re-elected to the Historic District Commission.

 

On a motion by Ms. Rambow, seconded by Ms. Frazier, Vice-Chairman Kluckhuhn was re-elected to the Historic District Commission.

 

Chairman Hayes asked if there were any new business and there were none.
