CITY OF LAUREL BOARD OF APPEALS

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 28, 2017 – REGULAR

The minutes of the November 30, 2017 meeting were approved as written on motion by Mr. Lee, seconded by Mrs. Leszcz, and carried on a roll call vote of all other members present.

 

Next, the Board heard the request for Special Exception Application No.879 and Resolution No. 17-07-BOA, 9701 Fort Meade Road Unit 200, zoned Commercial General (CG), filed by Christ Vision Ministries, 9701 Fort Meade Road, Unit 200, Laurel, MD  20707. Mr. Robert Love completed the reading of the record for the administrative process that was completed by Staff and presented the Technical Staff Report dated December 1, 2017, stating the Applicant was requesting approval to operate a House of Worship to be at 9701 Fort Meade Road, Unit 200, Laurel, MD  20707.

 

On motion by Mr. Lee, seconded by Mrs. Collins and carried on a unanimous vote by all members present, Special Exception Application No. 879 and Resolution No. 17-07-BOA were approved as presented in the Technical Staff Report.

 

The final agenda item was Special Exception Application No.881 and Resolution No. 17-08-BOA, 14703 Baltimore Avenue, Suite B, zoned Commercial General (CG), filed by Blu Pharms, LLC., (District 21 Medical Cannabis Dispensary) 5  Blackridge Court Catonsville, MD  21228.  Mr. Love completed the reading of the record for the administrative process that was completed by Staff and presented the Technical Staff Report dated December 4, 2017, stating the Applicant was requesting approval to operate a Medical Cannabis Dispensary to be at 14703 Baltimore Avenue Suite B, Laurel, MD  20707.

 

The Applicant, Mr. Kalpesh Shah, 3301 Royal Oak Court Ellicott City, MD  21043, provided a brief summary of the request and said he was available for questions. There was some discussion on how the Dispensary will operate as a business.

Mr. Perry Coleman, 3226 Kelox Road Gwynn Oak, MD  21207, a 20 year Veteran, stated his support for the Medical Marijuana Dispensary to the Commission.

 

 On motion by Mr. Lee, seconded by Mrs. Leszcz and carried on a unanimous vote by all members present, Special Exception Application No. 881 and Resolution No. 17-08-BOA were approved as presented in the Technical Staff Report.

           

 Staff and the Commission welcomed new City Solicitor, as of January 1, 2018, Lawrence Taub. He will be replacing Karen Ruff who accepted a new position.
