THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2017 – SPECIAL – 7:00 P.M.

 

PLEASE NOTE: If you wish to be heard at this meeting please sign the speaker list provided on the table at the side of the Council Chamber.  The President has the right to limit the amount of time each speaker has for each agenda item.  Each speaker will have three minutes to speak for each agenda item.

  3. Pledge of Allegiance.
  4. Introduction and first public hearing on Resolution No. 16-17, a resolution to receive the returns of the 2017 General Election as provided in Section 611 of the City of Laurel Charter.
  5. Introduction and first public hearing on Resolution No. 17-17, a resolution of the Mayor and City Council of Laurel to compensate the Officials of the 2017 General Election.

FORTY-THIRD MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL

 

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2017 – SPECIAL – 7:00 P.M.

 

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. with President Leszcz presiding.  Mayor Moe led the Pledge of Allegiance.  Roll was called Craig A. Moe, Mayor; Michael R. Leszcz, Council President; H. Edward Ricks, Councilmember; Valerie M.A. Nicholas, Councilmember and Frederick Smalls, Councilmember present.  Also present: Marty Flemion, City Administrator and Kimberley A. Rau, Clerk.  There were five members of the public present.

 

President Leszcz read the title of Resolution No. 16-17, a resolution to receive the returns of the 2017 General Election as provided in Section 611 of the City of Laurel Charter, into the record for the first reading.  The public hearing was opened at 7:01 p.m.

 

John Kish, Chairman of the City of Laurel Board of Election Supervisors presented the results of the 2017 General Election.

President Leszcz closed public hearing at 7:04 p.m.

 

The Council Rules were suspended on motion by Councilmember Ricks, seconded by Councilmember Smalls. 

 

On motion by Councilmember Ricks, seconded by Councilmember Smalls, RESOLUTION NO. 16-17, A RESOLUTION TO RECEIVE THE RETURNS OF THE 2017 GENERAL ELECTION AS PROVIDED IN SECTION 611 OF THE CITY OF LAUREL CHARTER, was adopted on a unanimous roll call vote.  Mayor Moe concurred with this action. 

 

President Leszcz read the title of Resolution No. 17-17, a resolution of the Mayor and City Council of Laurel to compensate the Officials of the 2017 General Election, into the record for the first reading.  The public hearing was opened at 7:06 p.m. and closed with no one present who wished to speak.

 

The Council Rules were suspended on motion by Councilmember Ricks, seconded by Councilmember Smalls. 

 

On motion by Councilmember Ricks, seconded by Councilmember Smalls, RESOLUTION NO. 17-17, A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF LAUREL TO COMPENSATE THE OFFICIALS OF THE 2017 GENERAL ELECTION, was adopted on a unanimous roll call vote.  Mayor Moe concurred with this action.

 

There being no further business to come before the Mayor and City Council the meeting was adjourned at 7:07 p.m.
