REGULAR WORK SESSION

 

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 4, 2017 – 7:00 P.M.

 

 

Attendees: Craig A Moe, Mayor; Michael R. Leszcz, Council President; H. Edward Ricks, Councilmember; Valerie M.A. Nicholas, Councilmember and Frederick Smalls, Councilmember.  Also present: Marty Flemion, City Administrator; Lou Ann Crook, Chief of Staff; Kimberley A. Rau, Clerk; Kevin Frost, Director of Information Technology; Jack Brock, Director of Economic and Community Development; S. Michele Saylor, Director of Budget and Personnel Services; Joanne Barr, Director of Parks and Recreation; Dave Cope, Fire Marshal; Rob Ferree, Director of Public Works; Audrey Barnes, Director of Communications; Chief McLaughlin, Police Department and John Shay, City Solicitor.  There was one member of the public present.

 

The Mayor and City Council completed the discussion on the remaining committees included in the book as well as ones proposed.  Mayor said the Administration will provide the Council with a summary and recommendations.

 

Jack Brock, Director of Economic and Community Development presented Ordinance No. 1899, an ordinance amending City Code, Chapter 8 “Licenses, Permits, and Business Regulations,” to add Article V “Body Art Establishments”.  There was discussion about only the owner of the business needing a license and not the individual tattoo artists.  There was also a question about the need for a license to do piercing.  John Shay, City Solicitor will look into this issue further.  Councilmembers were in agreement to introduce the legislation and hold the first public hearing at the Mayor and City Council Meeting on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.

 

 

Jack Brock, Director of Economic and Community Development presented Ordinance No. 1900, Text Amendment No. 244, an ordinance amending the City of Laurel Unified Land Development Code, Section 20-9.5 to add Hotel/Motel uses in the I-RTP Zone.  Councilmembers were in agreement to introduce and hold first public hearing at the Mayor and City Council Meeting on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.

 

Marty Flemion, City Administrator presented the bid recommendation to award a contract for a Canteen/Rehab Vehicle Replacement.  Councilmembers were in agreement to award the contract at the Mayor and City Council Meeting on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.

 

 

There being no further business to come before the Mayor and City Council the meeting was adjourned at 8:18 p.m.
