Stop the presses! The City's Electronics Recycling and Paper Shredding Event is back!

Gather up your old, important papers and old electronics and come down to Public Works, 305-307 First Street, on Saturday, October 16. Hours of this event have yet to be announced but are typically 9am until 1pm.

This event is for City residents and City businesses only. You must show proof of City residency, or be able to confirm your Laurel business address to participate.  Please be sure to check that your address is within the city limits.  Not every location in the area called "Laurel, Maryland" is within the city boundaries.

Areas NOT in the City Limits Include: Montpelier, Russet, West Laurel, North Laurel and South Laurel and any portion of Montgomery County, Anne Arundel County, or Howard County (The City is entirely within Prince George's County). To check your address in advance, please call the Department of Economic and Community Development at 301-725-5300 ext. 2303 or visit the City’s web site,, to check the map.

Electronic Recyclables Includes: electronic devices that are used for entertainment media such as movies, music, video games and their accessories.  We will be accepting computer monitors, CPUs, CD/DVD/VCR players, radios, printers, keyboards, televisions, stereos, speakers, game stations, AC adaptors and other similar items. If it plays music, video, video games, or an accessory to something that does - it counts! Things such as microwaves, vacuum cleaners, blenders, toaster ovens and other electrical items that may have a digital display are not considered electronics for this event.

Chesapeake Paper Systems will be on site to shred your documents safely. Residents are welcome to stay and watch their documents be shredded or drop them off and be on their way. They will also accept films such as X-rays for shredding, however films will be taken back to their facility for shredding and cannot be shredded in the truck on site Saturday morning.
