The City of Laurel is gearing up for its annual Patuxent River Clean Up on Saturday, April 6, 2019.

This will be the City of Laurel’s 14th consecutive year participating in this statewide event coordinated by the Patuxent Riverkeepers. The City will be one of many agencies hosting clean ups along the Patuxent River.

The staging area will be Riverfront Park, on Avondale Street, at the picnic area, starting at 9:00am.

Volunteers will be asked to assist in removing trash and debris from the shoreline and surrounding park along the Patuxent River, which will help reduce debris that makes its way into the river and impedes the river flow during rain events.

Trash bags and gloves, along with some hand tools, will be provided and you are asked to please dress appropriately for cleaning up along the riverbank. The Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad will bring out its aquatic unit to assist in removing debris from the river.

This is a great opportunity for students to get required Community Service Hours, so be sure to bring Community Service forms with you to be signed.
