Did you know that Martin Luther King, Jr. skipped two grades in high school and started college at the tender age of 15? Just a bit of trivia as we plan to observe Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, January 15, 2018, and Mayor Craig A. Moe has announced that City and Passport Offices will be closed, which will shift trash and refuse collections that week.

That means Monday’s refuse and recycling will happen on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, and Tuesday’s pickups will be collected on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. Residential and Business collections on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will not be affected.

There will not be a Residential Special Pickup or Yard Debris collection during the week of January 15, 2018, but Public Works will still pick up Christmas Trees on January 17th if you call 301-725-0088 in advance to arrange it.

The next Residential Special Pickup and Yard Debris collection is set for Wednesday, January 24, 2018. You can schedule a pickup by calling Public Works at 301-725-0088, e-mailing them at [email protected] or using the MyLaurel App.
