History

The City of Laurel Tree Board was created and established by Ordinance No. 1074, passed by the Mayor and City Council on March 22, 1993. The Board is made up of seven (7) citizen members; three (3) from the Parks and Recreation Citizens Advisory Committee, three (3) from the Public Works Citizens Advisory Committee and one (1) from the general public, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council.

Authority

The Board is charged with studying, investigating and developing an annual tree plan for the care and preservation of trees. The Board is also responsible for developing and maintaining a list of champion trees within the City and investigating, reporting and making recommendation upon any special matters within the scope of its responsibilities.

Meetings

The Board meets regularly each month, in the Laurel Municipal Center at 8103 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel, MD.
