SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is involved in the day-to-day management, maintenance, and delivery of recreational services at one or more community centers. The duties include supervision of part-time and contingent employees and volunteers. The employee works closely with all recreation program staff to facilitate total operation at the facilities. Oversees the operations of a Recreation Community Center as well as the seasonal aquatics division to include swimming pools and Lake House. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Recreation. The nature of the work performed requires the employee to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all City personnel, City Department Heads, and other non-city agencies.
A Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or Parks, or a related field, from an accredited college or university and four years related experience including two years supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in community recreation center management and sports management is preferred. For education obtained outside the U.S., at the time of application, the applicant is required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service, such as the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services or World Education Services: International Credential Evaluation. Must possess, or have the ability to obtain within six months of employment, a Red Cross Standard First Aid certification, a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate, Prince George’s County Pool Operator’s License, and a Prince George’s County Food Service Manager Certification. Must possess a current and valid Class “C” Maryland driver’s license, or a comparable driver’s license issued by the employee’s state of residence, and a proven safe driving record. Must possess or be able to attain the following certification in the National Incident Command System (ICS) within six months of employment: ICS-100, ICS-700. EOE.
