SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

An employee in this position performs varied general cleaning duties including, but not limited to, mopping and waxing floors; vacuuming carpet; dusting/cleaning doors or windows; emptying trash cans, cleaning bathrooms; minor, basic maintenance of facilities; grounds maintenance and other duties when requested.  The employee must travel to multiple facilities throughout the day in order to ensure and maintain cleanliness.  Work assignments will involve the learning of new tasks and methods.  The work is performed under general supervision of the Facility Foreman.  The nature of the work performed requires that an employee establish and maintain effective working relationships with the assigned supervisor, other employees, and the general public. 

                              

QUALIFICATIONS:

Possession of a high school diploma or GED Certificate and one year of related custodial experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the essential requirements of work. Basic knowledge of custodial practices, equipment, and materials. Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance activities.  Must possess a current and valid Class “C” Real ID Maryland Driver’s License or a comparable driver’s license issued by the employee’s state of residence, and a proven safe driving record.  Completion of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) command courses required by the City Office of Emergency Management within six (6) months of employment with the City.  EOE.

 

MUST BE ABLE TO PASS A PRE-EMPLOYMENT PHYSICAL examination, Including a DRUG SCREEN, AND A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK.
