SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

This position operates a variety of light, heavy and special purpose maintenance and repair equipment. The position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of assigned vehicles and equipment.  Performance of manual tasks in assigned work is required. This position performed under the supervision and direction of an assigned supervisor.  This position must establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, contractors, vendors and the Public. The principal duties of this position are performed in an outdoor work environment with potential personal hazards.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

High School diploma or GED from an accredited school and some experience in equipment operation and roadside maintenance, and/or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the essential requirements of work.  Must possess a Maryland Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Air Brakes endorsement or a comparable driver’s license issued by the employee’s state of residence, and a proven safe driving record. Must have the ability to acquire Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) or American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) Flagger Certification Card within six (6) months of employment with the City.  Completion of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) command courses required by the City Office of Emergency Management within six (6) months of employment with the City. EOE.

 

MUST BE ABLE TO PASS A PRE-EMPLOYMENT PHYSICAL examination, Including a DRUG SCREEN, AND A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK.
