The City of Laurel Insurance Program is administered by the Department of Budget and Personnel Services. The City carries several lines of insurance to include property liability, auto, police liabililty, public officials' liability, flood and emloyee performance bonds.

It is important to note that the City's regular and emergency service volunteers are very important to the delivery of City services. Their assistance to, and participation with, the City's various departments is a vital component of what the City does for its Citizens. To assure that they are protected, the City provides coverage for them during the hours they are serving the City.

Most of the City's insurance is provided by the Maryland Local Government Insurance Trust (LGIT). It is best described as an insurance pool whose eligible members include Maryland Municipalites and Counties.
