Councilman Jeffrey W. Mills was elected to his first term on the City Council on November 7, 2023 to represent Ward 2.
Jeffrey is a second-generation Councilman in his family following the footsteps of his father The Honorable Councilman John W. Mills, Jr. Growing up in Seat Pleasant, Maryland of a working-class family, Jeffrey learned the importance of family, hard work, education, and public service. As a child, he worked with grassroots civic associations. He worked for the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, Prince George’s County Public Schools and State Highway Administration before becoming an entrepreneur.
Jeffrey Mills is a product of the Prince George’s County Public School System and attended Prince George’s County Community College and Howard County Community College for business and leadership development. He loved his membership as a Toastmasters International member.
Jeffrey is a husband, father of five, brother, and uncle. Jeffrey has been a proud citizen of the City of Laurel since 2010 and the proud owner of the CDL Book Club located on Main Street since 2013, where he loves teaching and helping others grow into great employees and employers. He has taught over 20k people throughout the US, including returning citizens. He lives by the saying, “When you help people grow, you grow”. Jeffrey is also a published author of eight books that are sold on Amazon. His newly published book, "Pushed Into Purpose," describes his support from the citizens of Laurel. He is proud to say that he is proud to be the first American Muslim Councilman for the City of Laurel.
