Kyla Clark was elected to her first term on the City Council on November 7, 2023, to represent Ward 2 and has been elected by her colleagues to serve as Pro Tempore.
Prior to running for office, Kyla was the Environmental Affairs Committee Vice-Chair and member of the Citizens Advisory Committee for Persons with Disabilities, serving the Laurel community for four years.
Councilmember Clark’s career has reached prestigious heights, spanning both local and federal levels of the U.S. government. She has lent her expertise to esteemed institutions, including the United States Senate on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., the U.S. Department of Transportation, the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Department of Justice, and leading corporations like WebMD and The Black Congressional Caucus Foundation.
Councilmember Clark is originally from Syracuse, NY. She holds an MBA from American Intercontinental University in International Marketing and Global Business, a B.S. from Le Moyne College, and attended an HBCU in her first year at Clark Atlanta University on scholarship from the NAACP for vocal performance, serving on the President’s Philharmonic Chorale Ensemble.
In her pastime, Councilmember Clark mentors young girls and women and is an active board member for Le Moyne College, serving on the multicultural committee. She has lived in Ward 2 for over nine years.
