Citizen of the Month
Nominee: Amanda (Mandy) Wellford
Nominated by: Joann Moe
Dear Council Member Snyder:
It is my honor to nominate Amanda (Mandy) Wellford for the Laurel City Citizen of the Month award.
I have had the privilege of knowing Mandy for more than ten years. Over these years, and through the example set by her parents, Mandy has jumped into serving her community with both feet. As a young teenager, Mandy assisted me in working with the young children of St. Mary’s parish with crafts and projects each year, raising money for the church. In addition, she has volunteered countless hours in helping prepare for the annual parish bazaar, the church’s major fundraiser. Later, Mandy joined with me in my efforts at Pallotti High School, working to coordinate special events and fundraising activities.
Mandy is the kind of person who looks for opportunities to serve her community and help others and doesn’t stop until the job is done, regardless of the effort required. Her work ethic and dedication should serve as a role model to the citizens of Laurel. Mandy does so much and expects nothing back. It is a pleasure to nominate her for this award.
Student of the Month
Nominee: Laura Wellford
Nominated by: Niko Iampieri
I have had the pleasure of teaching Laura Wellford as her band director for 4 years now, and in my 12 years of teaching, she is one of the most dedicated students I have ever had. She is in the Concert Band, Pep Band, Jazz Band and Jazz Combo playing percussion and piano. The Jazz Band and Combo are both extra-curricular. She has always practiced with great diligence and volunteered to help whenever needed. Laura has also been one of the most courteous, respectful, and all-around nice students I have ever had, making her an excellent student leader and role model. Laura will have a positive impact on anything she is involved in. I wholeheartedly recommend Laura for whatever she sets her sites on.
