Senior Services

The Division of Senior Services, operated by the Laurel Department of Parks and Recreation, serves senior citizens 55 years of age or older.  


Senior citizen programs and classes are scheduled at various locations in Laurel.  These include the Greenview Drive Cabana, Laurel Armory Anderson & Murphy Community Center, the Robert J. DiPietro Community Center, the Laurel Library, and the Laurel Mall.  The programs and services provided by the department include recreational activities, educational classes, health related services and transportation services. 


Day trips are offered to local malls and points of interest in the Washington/Baltimore and Virginia/Pennsylvania areas. The City of Laurel Transportation Program provdies curb to curb service within the Laurel area Monday through Friday by appointment and requires a $25 annual registration fee.  The Division of Senior Services provides a monthly calendar of classes, trips and events.  Click here for the current newsletter.


The City of Laurel Senior Van Service follows Prince George’s County School closings and delays when it comes to snow and ice. If prince Georges County Schools are closed our vans service will not run. All appointments for the day will be cancelled. If there is a one hour delay the van service will begin at 10:00 a.m.  and if there is a two hour delay the service will only pick up appointments after 11:00 a.m. If your appointment comes during the closing it has been cancelled.
