Parks and Recreation Citizens Advisory Committee

History: The City of Laurel Parks and Recreation Citizens Advisory Committee was created and established by Resolution and passed by the Mayor and City Council on July 26, 1976. The Committee is made up of nine members, one Council Member, the Director of Parks and Recreation and seven members appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council for three year terms. The Chair of the Committee is elected annually by members of the Committee.

Authority: The committee is charged with making recommendations and providing other needed advisory services to the Mayor, City Council and to the Director of Parks and Recreation on matters related to parks and recreational services, to communicate policies and functions of the Department of Parks and Recreation to the public and to keep the Mayor, City Council and general public aware of progress being made in achieving park and recreation goals and the challenges that confront the Department.
