The Laurel Civic Improvement Committee was created in 2007 to advise the Mayor and City Council on matters that would improve the appearance of the City of Laurel; involve residents and businesses in activities promoting the City such as, the Municipal Center Open House, Annual Flower Mart, Golden Shovel Award, Citizen/Student of the Month, Holiday Decorating Contest, Main Street landscaping and Municipal Government Works Month.
