History: The City of Laurel Cable Television Committee was created and established by Ordinance No. 1112, passed by the Mayor and City Council on September 27, 1993. The Committee is made up of five (5) members; one (1) Council Member, one (1) member of the Laurel Cable Network Foundation, Inc., and three (3) citizen members appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council for two (2) year terms. The Chair of the Committee is elected annually by members of the Committee.
Authority: The Committee was established to advise the Mayor and City Council on issues concerning cable television, including rate regulation, the operation and programming of the public, educational and governmental access channels for which the City is the franchising authority, and appraising the Mayor and City Council of changes and developments in law relating to cable television.
Meetings: The Committee meets each month, in City Hall at 8103 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel, MD.
