First Time Guide

Welcome to the new City of Laurel web site!

We've redesigned our site to make it easier to use and to provide more up-to-date resources to our citizens.  This guide will introduce you to the new features of the site, and to help you find sections that have moved since you last visited!

Notifications and Alerts!

For starters, we've implemented several notification systems for various parts of the site, so that you don't have to come by the site every time you need something!  We have RSS Feeds for our press releases, calendars, and general site updates!  For community and emergency alerts, we've put a few systems in place to get word out to our citizens quickly and effectively by email, phone, and text (as appropriate for each).

Search!

We've also added the capability to quickly search the site for the information or services you're looking for. Just type what you're looking for into the Search box on the right side of the site, and we'll scour our web site for it!

Services and Resources Moved!

We've rearranged many of the items that were on the old web site to make them easier to access and use.  You can browse by Department or view a complete list of City Services or Information Resources.

More Information!

We've added tons of new information, and there's more coming!  You can now access agendas and minutes from City Council, Boards and Committee meetings, and much more!

E-Government (Laurel Online)

Over the next 3-4 months we will be rolling out numerous enhancements to our web site that will allow you to interact with us from anywhere you have web access. A press release will precede the release of all the below modules so make sure you sign up to receive our press releases.

Parks & Recreation Online: This will be released by the end of January. It will allow class lookup and registration and facility rental lookup

Permits and Inspections: This is scheduled for release in mid-February. This module will allow you the review the status of your project and schedule/reschedule inspections. A limited number of permits will be able to be processed online including the fee payment.

Call Center: This is scheduled for release in late February. This enhancement will provide our residents with the ability to communicate issues to us during normal work hours, after hours and on weekends. The list is long but examples are street light out, abandoned car, graffiti, damaged park equipment etc. Your submittal is tracked and you will be able to view the status of our progress in resolving the issue.

WebLink: This scheduled for release in mid-February. Interested in reviewing the council agenda or meeting minutes from December 1987, lookup an ordinance or resolution passed in 1942, search for your name in some of our other public documents. Weblink provides citizen access to our document management repository.

Business License: This is scheduled for release in early March. Our business customers will be able to review the status of their license and submit online payment for their annual license renewal.

Online Bill Payment: This is scheduled for release in late March. Residents will be able to review their account status and pay for city services over a secure internet connection.
