The City of Laurel’s Department of Parks and Recreation maintains over 200 acres of parkland, play grounds, athletic fields, trails, open spaces, pavilions, tennis courts, basketball courts and right-of-ways . The Facilities and Grounds Division is also responsible for maintaining ten buildings and two outdoor pool complexes.

In addition to maintaining the City's parks and facilities, the Department is responsible for assisting with City wide festivals and special events such as; Lakefest, Riverfest, the outdoor concert series, Laurel Lions Club Car Show and the City’s Annual Fourth of July Celebration just to name a few.
Services Provided:
- Provides mowing services.
- Provides litter control and trash collection services.
- Provides landscape installation and maintenance.
- Removes hazardous trees on park property.
- Maintains playground equipment at park sites.
- Prepares and maintains athletic fields.
- Maintains tennis courts and basketball courts.
- Installs and maintains benches, picnic tables, and shelters.
- Installs and maintains signs.
- Provides safety and security of parks and playgrounds.
- Provides support for special events.
- Provides storm-related emergency services.
- Removes snow and ice from building and park sites.
Reporting Vandalism or Repair Needs in the Parks
If you are reporting maintenance problems or vandalism regarding a city park or facility, please call the Parks and Recreation’s Administration office at 301-725-7800. Office hours are Monday thru Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Emergencies or acts of vandalism which occur at any other time may be reported to the Laurel Police Department’s Non-Emergency number at 301-498-0092. Thank you for your concern and assistance.
